Description
Welcome to our immersive Master Class in Landscape Painting, where the journey to creating breathtaking landscape art begins. Led by 3 Square Art’s Co-Owner and Professional Artist Craig Andrew McKee, this four-week course is designed to take participants on a comprehensive exploration of oil painting techniques, culminating in the creation of a finished and stunning landscape masterpiece from a selected reference photo. The course includes all materials including a professionally mounted and gessoed hardboard along with brushes and Professional-grade oil paints and mediums.
In Class 1, participants will lay the foundation for their paintings by focusing on precision in drawing and initial color experimentation and blocking. The Instructor will introduce students to the fundamentals of oil painting, including the essential colors and brushes. Through hands-on instruction and demonstration, participants will learn to translate the beautiful scene of the selected landscape to their canvases, capturing the basic shapes and forms.
As the course progresses into Class 2, participants will delve deeper into their paintings, refining their compositions and beginning to fully block in all areas and commit to the main shapes and values. The Instructor will provide guidance on techniques for achieving depth and dimensionality, encouraging students to experiment with brushwork and texture to bring their landscapes to life.
In Class 3, participants will further render their painting to really start to bring out the final composition and objects in the painting. The Instructor will share insights on how to push the colors and to fix any remaining issues with the composition, empowering students to push the boundaries of their palettes and evoke mood and atmosphere in their work.
Finally, in Class 4, participants will put the finishing touches on their paintings, focusing on final details, scumbling colors, and adding delicate glazes to enhance depth and luminosity. The session will conclude with a final critique, offering participants the opportunity to receive feedback and guidance from the Instructor before applying a protective varnish to their completed masterpieces.
Throughout the course, participants will benefit from expert instruction, personalized feedback, and shared inspiration, gaining valuable insights into the art of landscape painting while cultivating their own unique artistic voice.
