Description
In this class, we’ll focus on painting serene spring scenes inspired by the Fort Collins area, using watercolor techniques suited for beginners and seasoned artists alike. We’ll start with warmup exercises to explore washes and brushwork, building confidence as we create two 6x8" images on one page that celebrate the tranquil beauty of spring’s rebirth. Beginners will enjoy a hands-on introduction, taking time to absorb the fundamentals as colors blend into atmospheric backgrounds and subtle details—like tender leaves and blooming petals—emerge. Advanced artists can refine their craft, gaining fresh insights from the instructor’s expertise. You’ll experiment with wet-into-wet and wet-on-dry techniques to craft seamless washes, then use subtle brushwork to suggest spring’s intricate details.
This class is about savoring watercolor’s unique charm through a pair of expressive works that evoke the essence of spring. With expert guidance and a relaxed pace, we’ll balance soft transitions and bold touches to reflect the local landscape’s awakening. While open to all, this class is best suited for those with some prior drawing or painting experience; it’s not an introductory course but focuses on application, demonstration, techniques, and strategies—ideal for building on skills from our Introduction to Watercolors class.

Cost: $40 for 1 class
Age: 15+ All skill and creative levels welcome (younger artists are welcome with accompanying adult)
Experience Required: This class is suitable for both beginners and experts. However, some experience with drawing and/or painting is helpful
