Biography

I am a painter, photographer and writer residing in Fort Collins, but I’ve lived in Georgia, Texas and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. As a landscape architect in San Antonio, I designed the grounds of the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi. While living in Mexico I photographed and produced the travelogue “A Video Postcard from San Miguel de Allende”, as well as giving public photography lectures. My novel Speak the Truth and Fear No Man is available on Amazon’s Kindle.

Artist Statement

A friend told me he liked my paintings because they were of places where he’d like to be — beautiful, mysterious, but real places, landscapes where natural forces have uniquely converged.

I use color to express the personality of those places. Like music, color is vibration, the melody that floats above the rhythm of the forms. And I don’t try to flatten those forms. My paintings are meant to shift perception, to pop off the canvas, or else drop back and draw the viewer in.

I paint from my own digital photographs, exploiting that medium to capture the light of the moment, and to create detail, which is the hallmark of my art.
