Artist Statement
A great work of art engages you visually, emotionally, and intellectually no matter how often you look at it. My favorite artists manage to achieve this ideal fairly often. My objective as I grow and explore is to find ways do the same.
I came to studio art later in life, after training as a civil engineer and a career in the commercial construction industry in Silicon Valley. In my early fifties, I returned to school and studied art, especially painting.
Most of my work would probably be described as abstract expressionism but every now and then something representational creeps in. I work primarily in oil paint but can use a variety of other materials to enrich the story I'm trying to tell.
